We are happy to assist you with your visa application for India.

Important: EU citizens arriving by air and through certain seaports may also apply for a much more affordable electronic visa (e-Visa) for India.
For this option, the passport and other documents do NOT need to be sent to us in original form: all documents are required as copies (by email).
An e-Visa is available for both tourist and business purposes, is valid for up to 365 days, and allows multiple entries into India.

If such an e-Visa is not suitable for you, please refer to the information regarding the traditional visa issued in your passport.

Electronic Visa (e-Visa India)

EU citizens may apply for an e-Visa to enter India.

Advantages of an electronic visa for India:

• Issued within 1–2 business days after application
• No original documents (including passport) required
• Lower costs than a traditional Indian visa in the passport
• The visa is sent to you by email

Important!

• The visa is valid from the date of issue, regardless of the travel date!
• The Indian e-Visa may only be used when entering through specific airports or seaports:

Visa in Passport (Traditional Visa)

Tourist Visa

• Original passport (valid for at least 6 more months and containing 2 blank pages)
• 2 recent passport photos (5 x 5 cm, color, light background, photo paper)
• Electronically completed visa application form (fully completed and personally signed twice: on both pages of the application, below the photo on the first page and at the end of the second page). We can complete the electronic application for you (in this case, please complete the Application Guide (EN) manually or on a computer — this service costs an additional 15 EUR).
• Bank statement for the last 3 months, pension statement, or last 3 salary slips
• Current proof of residence/registration certificate (required even for Austrian citizens)
• Order form for ARC Consulting (ONLINE / PDF)

Business Visa

• Original passport (valid for at least 6 more months and containing 2 blank pages)
• 2 recent passport photos (5 x 5 cm, color, light background, photo paper)
• Electronically completed visa application form (fully completed and personally signed twice: on both pages of the application, below the photo on the first page and at the end of the second page). We can complete the electronic application for you (in this case, please complete the Application Guide (EN) manually or on a computer — this service costs an additional 15 EUR).
• Cover letter from the sending company in English (must state the purpose and duration of the trip, traveler details, confirmation of cost coverage, as well as the name and address of the Indian business partner and a detailed description of the business sectors of both the Indian and Austrian/European companies. The letter must be addressed to the Indian Mission in Vienna: Indian Embassy, Opernring 1, 1010 Vienna. A sample letter is available upon request.)
• Invitation letter from the Indian business partner in English (must contain traveler details and the purpose of the trip. NB: The travel period in the invitation letter must match the one stated in the visa application!)
• Copies of previous Indian business visas including immigration/customs stamps (important for annual visas)
• Current proof of residence/registration certificate (required even for Austrian citizens)
• Order form for ARC Consulting (ONLINE / PDF)

Important: Applicants who have never held a traditional Indian business visa will receive, upon their first application, only a visa valid for up to 3 months with a single entry. An annual visa can be applied for and issued only after the second entry into India.

Processing Time After Receipt of Documents:

• For Austrian citizens: 1–3 business days
• For other nationalities: 1 week (if permanent residence in Austria has been held for less than 2 years at the time of application)

Important Information About the Traditional Visa

• The visa is valid from the date of issue, regardless of the travel date!
• The maximum stay in India per visit is limited to 180 days.
• When completing the electronic application, uploading a passport photo may be omitted.
• Occupation details: professions such as journalist, police officer, military personnel, or religious teacher may result in longer processing times. Journalists are issued only journalist visas (this also applies to tourist visa applications).
• Visa applications for accompanying children (up to 16 years old) must be signed by a parent.
• Travel by vehicle: a detailed itinerary, vehicle registration certificate, and a Carnet de Passage customs document are additionally required.
