The Vietnamese government has introduced a full reopening of the country for international tourists as of March 15, 2022.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Vietnam imposed some of the strictest border control measures. From March 2020, a complete entry ban for international tourists was in place.

The country welcomed 18 million foreign visitors in 2019, which dropped dramatically to only 157,000 in 2021.

The lifting of tourist visa restrictions has enabled the resumption of Vietnam’s online e-visa system.

The policy is based on allowing only fully vaccinated tourists into the country. The vaccination requirement applies to all travelers over 12 years of age. For foreign travelers who have recovered from coronavirus within the past 6 months, a recovery certificate is also accepted.
