In light of the fact that the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for visa-exempt travelers will become fully mandatory on February 25, 2026, the UK government has announced plans to raise the fee in the near future. The current fee is £16, but it is expected to increase to £20.

Until now, a transitional period applied, particularly after the ETA system was extended to citizens of European countries on April 2, 2025. This transitional arrangement ends on February 25, after which travelers from 84 eligible countries and territories who do not hold a valid authorization will neither be allowed to board their flight nor legally enter the United Kingdom.
