Following the Cabinet resolution of May 19, 2026, which approved a revision of the visa-free entry and visa-on-arrival programs, Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlined the key elements of the reform during its weekly press briefing on the same day.

The published documents indicate that the changes will not be limited to reducing the permitted length of stay (returning to a maximum of 30 visa-free days instead of 60). Rather, a broader restructuring of various entry regulations is planned, along with a clearer distinction between general visa exemptions, bilateral agreements, and visa-on-arrival arrangements.
