The “Visa on Arrival” (VPA) program, introduced in summer 2024 to facilitate travel to Pakistan and allow citizens from 126 countries to receive quick and free visa issuance, has been suspended effective January 1, 2026. Without an official announcement formally ending the program, affected travelers are now required to apply for a standard paid e-visa, which involves higher fees and more complex administrative procedures.

In the “Pak ID” mobile application, introduced in February 2025, the “Visa on Arrival” option is still visible. However, selecting it consistently redirects users to a message instructing them to submit their application via the POVS portal according to the relevant visa category.
