Japan Significantly Increases Visa Fees
From July 1, 2026, Japan has significantly increased its visa fees. A single-entry visa now costs 15,000 yen (approximately USD 93), up from 3,000 yen (approximately USD 18). The fee for a multiple-entry visa has increased from 6,000 yen to 30,000 yen (approximately USD 37 to USD 186).
The increase was announced by Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi at a press conference. Tokyo stated that the higher fees reflect changes in prices and exchange rates since the last adjustment of visa fees in 1978.
