Ghana plans to introduce e-visa by the end of May
Ghanaian authorities first announced the introduction of an electronic visa system in November 2023, initially targeting the first quarter of 2024; however, this timeline was ultimately not met. In August last year, President John Dramani Mahama revisited the issue, emphasizing the need to accelerate the rollout of the e-visa system as part of a broader modernization of border management.
In his address to the nation in February 2026, John Dramani Mahama stated that significant progress has been made in the development and procurement processes for the future national e-visa system. The launch is currently expected toward the end of May.
