As of August 20, 2026, China has added Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam to its 240-hour visa-free transit program. Citizens of 57 countries can now stay in designated regions of China for up to 10 days without a visa, provided they are continuing their journey to a third country or region.

The program originally allowed stays of 72 or 144 hours, but was significantly expanded in December 2024, with the maximum duration extended to 240 hours and access granted to a broader range of provinces. Following the addition of five new entry points in Guangdong province in November 2025, the program now covers 65 entry points across 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities.
